Plus the surrounding metro. Work happens remotely for companies anywhere in the US. Houston is simply home.

Why Houston contractors get found, or don't

The Houston metro is one of the most competitive home-services markets in the country, and the reason is weather. Gulf Coast hail, hurricane season, and the flooding that follows create demand spikes where every roofer, restoration crew, and plumber in three counties is busy at once. When the storm hits, homeowners don't ask around — they search, and they call whoever they can find first.

That's the whole problem in one sentence. Demand isn't the constraint here. Being findable in the ninety minutes after a homeowner notices water on the ceiling is the constraint. And the companies that win those calls decided the outcome months earlier, in the quiet part of the year, by building something that shows up.

The off-season is the season

Local rankings, review counts, and AI answers all move slowly: weeks to months, not days. Which means the work that determines who eats during the next storm is the work being done right now, when nothing is happening.

Why a Houston company can rank at the shop and vanish in Katy

Google's map pack is heavily influenced by how close the searcher is to your business. If your shop is in Tomball, you may look great to someone searching in Tomball and be invisible to the same search three suburbs away. You'd happily drive there.

Metro Houston is enormous, and that distance effect is brutal here in a way it isn't in a small market. The fix isn't a trick. It's having a real page for each area you actually serve, with specifics on it — the work you do there, the conditions in that area, the jobs you've completed — rather than one page that lists twenty city names in the footer and hopes.

Find-and-replace city pages don't work, and they haven't for years. Google sees through them, and so does every homeowner who lands on one. A page for The Woodlands has to actually be about The Woodlands or it shouldn't exist.

Three different places a Houston homeowner can find you

It's worth separating these, because a company can be doing fine in one and be completely absent from another, and the fixes are different.

WhereWhat decides itWhat it takes
Google map packProximity, Google Business Profile completeness, review volume and recencyClaim and fully build out the profile, then ask for a review after every job
Organic resultsPage-level relevance: a page per service and per city, real content, fast on mobileSite structure and content, which is what a build is for
AI answers (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity)Whether engines can find and cite sources about you at allAnswer-shaped content, structured data, directory and review presence

That third row is the one almost nobody is working on. In August 2026 we tested 13 roofing companies with five homeowner prompts across four AI assistants, 260 answers in all. Twelve of them never got a link to their own site in a single answer. Not because they're bad companies. Because nothing about them was structured in a way the engines could quote. The full study is here.

What we build, and what it costs

Fixed scope and fixed price, quoted in writing before anything starts, the same way you quote a roof. Starter Site from $1,450 for a tight five-page site in about a week. A full Website Build from $2,925, live in one to two weeks, with a page for every service and every city you actually serve. Website + Lead Engine from $6,500 adds the Google Business Profile buildout and call and form tracking set up in your name. After launch, Site Care is $150 a month to keep a site we built or host up, tested, and current; Managed Marketing is $349 a month for the whole thing handled — site, local search, and AI visibility — on a 6-month minimum; Growth Partner from $975 a month if you want someone owning the marketing month to month.

You own the domain, the site, and every lead when it's finished. Leave any time and keep all of it.

Working with someone in the same time zone

We're in the Houston metro, which mostly matters for boring practical reasons: we can meet if it's useful, you get a person on the phone during Texas business hours, and we understand what a hail season does to your calendar without needing it explained.

Two things you can check today, neither of them a testimonial: the free 31-point audit, which is the same checklist we run on paid projects, and the AI-visibility study, original research on 13 Houston-area roofing companies with the method and the data published.

Questions Houston owners ask

Do you only work with companies in Houston?

No. Riptide Growth is based in the Houston metro and works with service businesses across the United States. The work happens over email, calls, and screen shares regardless of location. Being local to Houston just means easier scheduling and, when it's useful, the option to meet in person.

Which Houston-area cities do you serve?

Houston, The Woodlands, Tomball, Magnolia, Spring, Conroe, and Cypress are the core service areas, and the surrounding metro is fair game. If you're a roofing, restoration, HVAC, plumbing, or other home-service company anywhere in greater Houston, the playbook is the same.

How much does a website cost for a Houston contractor?

A Starter Site begins at $1,450 and takes about a week. A full Website Build starts at $2,925 and goes live in one to two weeks. Website + Lead Engine starts at $6,500. Monthly, Site Care is $150 for a site we built or host, Managed Marketing is $349 with a 6-month minimum, and Growth Partner is from $975. Every project is quoted as a fixed price in writing before work begins, and pricing depends mostly on how many services and cities need their own pages.

Why does my company show up in Google Maps at my shop but not in nearby suburbs?

The map pack weighs how close the searcher is to your business, so a company can rank well near its physical location and disappear a few suburbs away. Metro Houston is large enough that this effect is severe. The durable fix is a genuine page for each area you serve, with real specifics about your work there, plus a well-built Google Business Profile and steady review volume.

How long before a new website actually brings in calls?

The site itself goes live in one to two weeks, and conversion improvements such as a clearer message, a tappable phone number, and faster lead response can show up immediately in the calls you already get. Local ranking and AI visibility move slower, typically over weeks to a few months. Anyone promising Houston rankings in days is selling something.

Can you fix my current site instead of rebuilding it?

Sometimes, and we'll say so if that's the case. The free 31-point audit exists partly to answer this question honestly. Occasionally the site is fine and the real problem is lead response time or an unclaimed Google Business Profile, which is a much cheaper fix than a rebuild.
